The first week of March was coincidentally my first week of my internship at Sweetwater Sound in Fort Wayne, Indiana. My very first day, I had orientation, and spent a lot of time getting to know the facilities and people who I'd be working with. After that, it was full-speed ahead.
For most of this week, we had Jared James Nichols as a guest to do some video/audio recording both on stage and in the studio. I got to help set up a lot of the mics, snakes, and gear that was needed for such a large production, and I learned a lot already within this first week. The performance on-stage was tracked in studio A via Dante, which we've used at Capital plenty times before, so I was excited to see it used in a real-world application. Other than all that, I've done a lot of sanitizing in the studios, refilling candy bowls, setting up and tearing down mics and drums, and some tracking and mixing observation. If the internship continues to be as great of a learning experience as this week was, I know I'll leave Fort Wayne feeling much more confident and versed in my field. Here are a couple pictures that I took of the Jared James Nichols setup in studio A, and stay tuned for more of my internship updates in the next several weeks!
